For almost two weeks the sun set at eight-thirty,
To my knowledge the latest
The sun ever sets in these parts.
Sweet hours of subdued sunlight
Gently shaded into violet skies
And from thence to skies the hue of deepest passion,
Pastel hours made for grateful contemplation outside
Carressed by mellow breezes.
The gift was too soon gone.
Nobody seemed to know or care.
